It's difficult to judge without knowing what was in the other messages but on what has been disclosed I can't see this as anything other than individuals processing horrific things they had seen with colleagues who could relate to their trauma. They were not mocking the victims or trivialising what happened and they never intended the messages to be made public. We need to remember that police officers are humans and they see unimaginable things which would affect anyone.
